Frequently Asked Questions

Quality, Experience, and Process

Q: Why should I pick Clear Bra Wisconsin over a larger shop or one of your competitors?
A: My business model prioritizes quality and personalized attention over volume. I have 15 years of exclusive PPF experience, and every Installation is done by me personally. My commitment to a flawless result is non-negotiable.

  • Focus on Quality, Not Speed: My prices reflect the quality of my work, which is why I choose to do all the work myself. I'm so particular about the end product. I focus on one vehicle at a time—from the day it arrives until it leaves—and I am never concerned with rushing to the next job. Unlike large shops, I don't have other vehicles on premises while customers wait for their car to be worked on.
  • Unmatched Reputation: After 15 years, my reputation is built on skill, word-of-mouth, referrals, and many repeat customers, not expensive ads.
  • Specialization is Key: I know the importance of specializing in one service. I don't offer multiple services like detailing, tinting, or component Installation.
  • PPF-Only Reviews: EVERY single one of my reviews is for PPF Installations, not a mix of other detailing services.
  • Flawless Finish: I add a custom "wrapped edge" to the patterns wherever possible so there is no exposed film edge to see.
  • What We Offer: We now offer Xpels Exterior Windshield Film. The Film's Reflection mimics the shine of the Paint so there is no "orange peel look".

Q: How much experience do you have with Paint Protection Film?
A: I have 15 years of exclusive experience dedicated solely to Paint Protection Film Installation. In that time, I have successfully completed Clear Bra Installations on over 1,220 vehicles.

Q: How long is the warranty and what does it cover?
A: 10 years against delaminating, fading, peeling, yellowing and bubbling. It does not protect against normal wear and tear.

Q: Can you handle complex vehicle designs like flared fenders and sculpted Bumpers?
A: Absolutely. Today’s high-performance cars are styled with challenging features like wide, flared front fenders and sculpted Bumpers. It requires expert skill, patience, and creativity to meet this challenge. My experience ensures your new Clear Bra will look flawless—free of any wrinkles, creases, and air bubbles. Additionally, edges can be wrapped if desired to insure your new Clear Bra is virtually invisible.

Q: What is the customer reaction when they pick up their vehicle?
A: The compliments I strive for are: "I can't see it anywhere" and "It looks like you didn't do anything." This confirms that the Installation is virtually invisible and perfectly executed.

About the Film and Protection

Q: What is Paint Protection Film (PPF)?
A: PPF, often called a "Clear Bra," is a thermoplastic urethane film applied to painted surfaces of a new or used car. It protects the paint from stone chips, bug splatters, minor abrasions, and environmental contaminants.

Q: What does PPF stand for?
A: PPF stands for Paint Protection Film.

Q: Why should I put Paint Protection Film (PPF) on my car?
A: Applying PPF is the best way to protect your investment and maintain its value.

  • It helps retain the value of the vehicle and can increase the asking price when traded or sold outright.
  • It prevents expensive repaints, which can cost thousands of dollars.
  • It stops chips and rust from forming on painted metal Bumpers (a major problem on today's trucks).
  • It prevents headlight and fog light lenses from yellowing, fading, and peeling.

Q: What does PPF ("Clear Bra") protect against?
A: PPF is designed to shield your vehicle from a wide range of road and environmental hazards, including: rocks, bug acids, salt, oils, gravel, tree sap, bird droppings, and magnesium chloride.

Q: Why do you exclusively use XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS Film?
A: We use XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS because we believe it is the best on the market. It is a Self-Healing film and was the FIRST of its kind when released in 2011. XPEL's warranty, quality, durability, and shine are second to none. They perform the most strenuous tests before releasing any product, and the proof is in the auto forum searches where XPEL comes up the most for PPF quality.

Q: Why do you use Urethane Film instead of vinyl?
A: Urethane Film is designed for protection and to handle the environment. It is thicker, much more durable, flexible, and lasts typically four times as long as vinyl. Vinyl is designed primarily for advertising and color change, with a useful life as short as two years.

Q: Will my car's paint fade or look different when the film is removed?
A: The paint protected by the film fades at the same rate as the paint left unprotected by the sun's UV rays, so there is no difference in appearance when the film is removed.

Q: Can the film be removed without damage to the paint?
A: Yes. It can be removed cleanly years later with the proper technique, leaving no residue on the paint.

Installation Details and Care

Q: What areas of the car are recommended to cover with Film?
A: While the entire vehicle can be done, we typically cover the high-wear areas, which consist of:

  • The first 1/3 of the Hood and Fenders
  • Full Front Bumper and Grill
  • Mirrors
  • Door Sills (step-in area)
  • Door Cups (recessed area under the door handles)
  • Door Edges
  • Headlamps and Fog Lights
  • The Luggage Area (top of the rear Bumper)
  • Rocker Panels (along with the bottom area of the doors, fenders, and rear Bumper behind the rear wheels from tire debris contact).

Q: Do you use patterns with no cutting on the vehicle, or bulk film and cut on the vehicle?
A: I produce the patterns on-premises with XPEL's DAP access directly. This ensures a perfect fit every time. Other shops who use bulk film and cut on the car try to save money, but you won't know if your paint has been cut until the film is removed in the future. We eliminate that risk entirely.

Q: What patterns are available?
A: Patterns are available from mid '90s to present. We have patterns for some motorcycles and ATVs.

Q: If I do a partial panel, like the hood or the fenders, will I see the line of the film?
A: Provided the car is relatively clean, it is difficult to notice the edge of the film.

Q: Does the film require special care?
A: No, special care is not required. Simply wash and wax your vehicle as you normally would.
